“Mary” Christmas on this last day of the Christmas season, the celebration of the Baptism of Jesus! The Lord is calling usto end Christmas by going back to Baptism, the beginning ofour Christian life. Today is an ideal time to renew our baptismalpromises by rejecting Satan, and by believing ever more deeplyin the Triune God.
When we end Christmas in Trinitarian, baptismal faith, weknow we are beloved sons and daughters of God our Father. This affirmation of fatherly love fills us “with the Holy Spiritand power”. Loved by the Father and filled with the Spirit, weimitate Jesus and go “about doing good works and healingall who were in the grip of the devil” (Acts 10:38). In this way,we establish “the victory of justice” on the earth to bring outprisoners from confinement, and those who live in darkness”.The renewal of your baptismal promises today has a lot to sayabout the future of the world. On this last day of Christmas, renew your Baptism.
Prayer: Abba, may every detail of my life be deeply affected bythe fact that You have adopted me as Your child (Rm 8:15).
Promise: “I have grasped you by the hand; I formed you, andset you as a covenant of the people, a light for the nations”.
Praise: “Our Lord voluntarily submitted himself to thebaptism of St. John, intended for sinners, in order to ‘fulfill allrighteousness.’ Jesus’ gesture is a manifestation of his selfemptying”(Catechism, 1224).
