St. Mary Magdalene, woman of many sins, who by conversion became the beloved of Jesus, thank you for your witness that Jesus forgives through the miracle of love.
You, who already possess eternal happiness in His glorious presence, please intercede for me, so that someday I may share in the same everlasting joy. Amen.
The Church celebrates the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene on 22 July, the patron Saint of women, converts and repentant sinners. Her name comes from the town of Magdala in Galilee, where she was born. Scripture introduces her as a woman “who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out” (Lk. 8:2).
We ask for St. Mary Magdalene of repentance and humility to intercede for us with Christ, whose resurrection she was the first to witness. During this feast, let us reflect deeper on the dignity of women, the new evangelization, and forgiveness for those who have wronged us, and the greatness of the mystery of divine mercy.
